Well Woman Care
One of the major health services we provide at Madison Women’s Health is examinations for women, also referred to as Well Woman exams. The goal of this visit is to provide a tailored, health screening examination, including a Pap smear when appropriate, and clinical breast exam. It also offers an opportunity to ensure that women are up-to-date on preventive health screenings. This includes reviewing recommendations in testing for sexually transmitted infections, immunizations, mammography, thyroid screening, cholesterol and blood glucose screening, bone mineral densitometry, as well as others.
Frequently, medications such as combined hormonal contraceptives, thyroid medications, or allergy medications are prescribed/renewed at this visit. We would also be happy to discuss areas that are pertinent to your current and future health such as heavy or irregular menstrual bleeding, preconception counseling, detailed discussions regarding contraceptive options, and many other health topics. We can then allot for an appropriate amount of time so that all your concerns are addressed, beyond the well woman visit.
